Invitation to wine tasting with fungus-resistant new varieties

The Institute for Grapevine Breeding Geilweilerhof is pleased to invite you again this year to a wine tasting with wines from fungus-resistant grape varieties (PIWIs). Various PIWI grape varieties as well as new red and white breeding lines can be tasted in comparison to standard varieties.

The rehearsal takes place on Wednesday and Thursday
2 and 3 July 2025
between 10.00 and 16.00
in the historic old section of the Geilweilerhof Institute for Grapevine Breeding.

You will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of rosé wines made from our red varieties and be impressed by the differences. We will also be happy to give you an insight into other ongoing research projects at Geilweilerhof.

This year we are offering practitioners after registration two guided Field tours with wine tasting on. You will have the opportunity to get to know our four varieties Calardis Blanc, Calardis Musqué, Calardis Soleil and Calardis Royal, as well as the breeding strain Gf.2011-003-0021 as a vine and wine, and to receive specific first-hand information from the breeder.
The first tour will take place on Wednesday, 2 July 2025 at 10:00 am, the tour on Thursday, 3 July 2025 starts at 2:00 pm.
Registration is only required for the field inspections via https://geilweilerhof.eu/PIWIprobe required by 19 June 2025.
